- שָׁתַתII (v. שָׁתַה II) to lay the foundation of, start. Hif. הִשְׁתִּית same. Midr. Till. to Ps, 11:3 אם הצדיקים שהִשְׁתִּיתוּ עולמךוכ׳, v. פָּגַר. Hof. חוּשְׁתַּת to be founded.
